The rocks would cry out!

Growing up in the church of Christ there wasn't a lot emphasis placed on Palm Sunday. When I got to Uganda I learned they have their own traditions. Each child and most adults would cut a Palm branch and wave it as they walked all the way to church. All over town people would be carrying their palm branches. It was a day of Joy to celebrate Jesus. Everyone is all dressed up. It can be quite a site.
At church they would wave their branches as they sang.
The Congolese brothers and sisters love Palm Sunday and Easter. They have no reservations when it comes to celebrating the Lordship and resurrection of Jesus.
I am so thankful that they have something to celebrate!

A Snag

"What's wrong with her legs Daddy?" Isaac asked.
"Whose legs?" I asked him.
"Mommys legs are dark. I don't like it!" he responded.

Those are called hose.
It was funny trying to explain what they were to him. He must have thought she was sick.
He reacted so strongly to Mommys charcoal grey legs.

In America women wear stockings or panty hose and it changes the color of their legs.
When I asked Cheryl why women wear panty hose she said, "I don't know.
It's fancier and in the winter can help keep your legs warm. I really don't know why women wear panty hose."
It's a tradition that "runs long" in our culture. I was told a story from years ago went some women used to paint their legs to look like they had on hose. One woman legs began to streak as she was caught in the rain after church!
Women also used to draw a line down the back of their legs to look like they were wearing panty hose.
You can learn much from a culture by examining what they wear and why.
So why do American woman wear them?
